Public Invited to Draft Plan Bay Area 2050 Public Engagement Recap on Aug. 17

The public is invited to attend a webinar on Tuesday, Aug. 17, at 9:30 a.m., where staff from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) will summarize “What We Heard” during the spring-summer 2021 public comment period of Draft Plan Bay Area 2050 and the Draft Implementation Plan.

The Draft Plan Bay Area 2050 includes a set of 35 revised and expanded strategies to tackle the Bay Area’s transportation, housing, economic and environmental challenges while creating a more resilient and equitable future for the Bay Area. These strategies are either public policies or sets of investments that can be implemented in the Bay Area over the next 30 years.

After more than 3 years of extensive engagement on MTC/ABAG’s regional planning effort, this special webinar will report back the public’s feedback received during the public comment period from May 26, 2021, to July 20, 2021 on Draft Plan Bay Area 2050 and its related supplemental reports, including the Draft Implementation Plan and the Draft Environmental Impact Report.

In addition, staff will provide an overview of the plan’s engagement process for each of the development phases to date:

  • Introduction to the plan
  • Blueprint
  • Draft Plan Bay Area 2050

Staff also will discuss next steps for the Final Plan Bay Area 2050, focusing specifically on the Final Implementation Plan.
