MTC is partnering with the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and the Association of Bay Area Governments to develop an electric vehicle (EV) strategy for the Bay Area. Included in that strategy is a promotional campaign that aims to build awareness and demand for plug-in electric (PEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) in the Bay Area. Increasing the number of PEVs and PHEVs will result in millions of gallons in fuel savings annually, stimulate the local economy, create jobs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve public health. The campaign is currently in development and should be completed by early 2013.
